GLOVER RUSSELL • ATTORNEYS AND COUNSELORS AT LAW

GLOVER ALCORN RUSSELL, JR. (Russ)
Senior Partner
More than three decades ago, “Russ” Russell began practicing law in Jackson, Mississippi. Over the years, he has become one of Mississippi’s most highly respected attorneys. A certified public accountant with a masters in tax law, he is also one of the area’s most versatile, well-rounded lawyers.
Russ grew up in a family of hard-working farmers in Clarksdale, MS, where the family has been farming some of the same family ground since the 1850s. He honed his craft in the legal field as a partner in some of Jackson’s most prestigious law firms, including Magruder Montgomery Brocato & Hosemann, PA, Phelps Dunbar LLP, and Watkins Ludlum Winter & Stennis, PA.
His time at these firms gave him a solid foundation on which he built the firm that he leads today. As principal in the firm, Russ oversees the work of the firm’s other attorneys to make sure every client gets the benefit of his singular expertise.
Russ earned his B.B.A. degree from Delta State University in 1977. He received his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 1981. Upon graduating from the University of Mississippi School of Law, he attended the law school at New York University, a school with unrivaled status in matters of tax law. Russ received his Master of Laws (in Taxation) from New York University in 1982.
Sidenote: If you are familiar with Mississippi, you probably recognize Russ’s middle name. Russ is the great-great grandson of James Lusk Alcorn, elected as the first Republican Governor for the State of Mississippi in 1869. Governor Alcorn was passionate about public education and was responsible for the creation of the university that bears his name, Alcorn State University (located in the county also named for him). Mr. Alcorn would be proud to know that his great-great grandson shares many of his convictions to this day.
Today, Russ is married with one daughter, two sons, and is the proud grandfather of six grandchildren. In what little spare time he has, he enjoys hunting, gardening and the company of his family.
