Who would have thought that a financial services career would lead to a career in law? That’s precisely the path that Trey Russell chose, and his years in the financial services industry have given him a unique skill set that he puts to work for his clients every day.
Trey graduated from the University of Mississippi in 2007 with a B.B.A. in Managerial Finance. In 2009, he earned his M.B.A. from Delta State University and began a successful financial services career. After passing the Series 7 General Securities Representative Exam and the Series 65 Uniform Investment Advisor Law Exam, he served as a financial advisor and head of trading for BlackSummit Financial Group, Inc. In 2013, Trey formed his own investment advisory firm, Surgo Asset Management, LLC.
Trey made the wise decision to put his financial background to work in the legal field. Trey received his Juris Doctor from Mississippi College School of Law in May of 2018, and was admitted to the Mississippi Bar in September 2018. While attending Mississippi College School of Law, Trey clerked for Glover Russell, P.A., where he learned to apply his business savvy to the practice of law. Today, Trey primarily focuses on three practice areas: Business and Corporate Law, Fiduciary Litigation and Wills, Trusts and Estate Planning.
Trey was born and raised in Jackson, MS, where he currently resides with his wife, Kelly, his three-year-old daughter, Piper and his two-month-old daughter, Reese. When he’s not practicing law, Trey enjoys spending time with his family, preferably on a sunny beach on the Gulf of Mexico.
